an aussiedoodle is the genetic mixture of an australian shepherd with a poodle. the result? every single thing listed above, and then some. if you're looking for an incredibly loyal family pet that's easy to train, easy to love, and will love you back in spades, an aussiedoodle is a wonderful choice.

breaking down the breed
to fully appreciate the aussiedoodle, it's important to gain a better understanding of its genetic makeup. let's start with the australian shepherd. aussies tend to have a reputation that precedes them - a steretype of being high-strung and incredibly active. are these things true? yes and no. this can be true of any dog that doesn't get the proper amount of stimulation, and aussies definitely require stimulation - especially of the mental variety. aussies are incredibly smart dogs, and task oriented. they were originally bred for herding, which means they're a breed that prefers to have a job, which is makes them easy to train. they catch on quickly, and will never tire of an adventure. therefore what some people call high-strung, is really just a lovable, goofy dog eager to learn its next trick. teaching them to fetch, pick up their toys, and providing them with treat puzzles goes a long. they enjoy being busy, and once out of the puppy phase, they quickly adjust to family life whether that's a morning walk, or a calm lazy afternoon on the couch.
as we mentioned, aussies are herding dogs, which means you might find them circling the small children in your home - rounding them up to ensure they stay in the pack. this trait makes them wonderful additions to the security of your home, however it also means someone might get "chuffed" gently on the calf if they're falling behind on a family walk. this behavior is directly related to an aussie's herding mentality. it's not meant in aggression, but it is something important to correct early on should your doodle portray signs of herding.
the poodle shares all the positive traits of an aussie. if you've never owned a poodle before, you're in for a treat. these no-shed dogs are super smart, supremely loyal, gentle, epic cuddlers, and definitely velcro dogs. they are wonderful family pets, hypoallergenic, and bond deeply with their human pack. they tend to err on the shy side, so early socialization is important. poodles are also very sensitive and tend to suffer from separation anxiety. this is why we highly recommend crate training your doodle puppy the minute they come home. crate training is key to creating a safe, comfortable place for your pet. it also helps immensely with housebreaking.
an aussiedoodle provides you and your family with a fantastic and loving personality. they are low to no shed, and have proven themselves time and time again to be an incredible addition to any family. after all, there's a reason why everyone loves a doodle!
kinds of aussiedoodles
if you've been researching doodles, then you've most likely seen reference to F1, F2, F1b, etc... and thought to yourself "what on earth are they talking about?"
here at dinah doodles and aussies, we breed F1 and F1B doodles.
F1 doodles are produced when one parent is 100% australian shepherd, and the other is 100% poodle. F1 puppies look like a perfect mix of an aussie and a poodle. Their hair can be curly or wavy, and they are generally very low or non-shedding.
F1B doodles are the result of an aussiedoodle bred with a 100% poodle. F1B puppies tend to have extremely curly hair, and are generally completely non-shedding and hypoallergenic.
